Bauchi State LG Chairman and his driver die in fatal motor accident

The local government caretaker committee chairman of Zaki local government area of Bauchi State, Alhaji Muhammad Yalwaji Sakwa, has died in a car accident in Gadau.

A statement by the Special Assistant Bauchi State governor on
Communications, Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, stated that the caretaker chairman died in the accident on Saturday alongside his driver.

The statement read in part: "We regret to announce the passing away of the Caretaker Chairman of Zaki Local Government Area, Alhaji Muhammad Yalwaji Sakwa. He was involved in a ghastly motor accident today, and the unfortunate incident claimed both his life and that of his driver. 

"Alhaji Sakwa was known to be honest and hardworking. We pray Almighty Allah give his family and the good people of Zaki LGA the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss," the statement added.
Sakwa was sworn in alongside 19 others few months ago as Caretaker chairmen for the 20 local governments in Bauchi State.

He has since been buried  alongside the driver according to Islamic rites.
Speaking to our correspondent on telephone after the burial, the Bauchi State APC Publicity Sectretary, Auwal Jallah describe the death of Sakwa as a great loss to the state, the party and the people of Zaki local government.
He described the deceased as a cool tempered and grassroot politician who identifies with his people.
