Tragedy struck the city of Nnewi in Anambra state just few hours to the Christmas day, as fire gutted Chicason Gas Plant, killing many workers and customers within the station.
The incident which happened around 12pm, caused a thunderous explosion which was followed by instant power outage in the whole city.
Many human were roasted. Motorcycles, gas cylinders, gas tanks, station offices, nearby building and bushes were burnt to ashes.

NEWSBURSTER investigated that the fire escalated after all efforts to reach the fire service unit went futile. The source also disclosed that there was poor response from the fire servicemen as they arrived the scene two hours after the explosion.

What caused the outbreak is yet to be known as eyewitnesses were consumed by the inferno.
Another witness, Azubuike Orji, while commenting on the inferno told NEWSBURSTER: “it’s a pity, both to the victims and the company, especially on a Christmas eve. Is this how their own Christmas would be? I wonder how their families would be feeling celebrating this great season of love amidst mourn and grief. May God console them.”
