Women are more affected by economic recession under my government – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday said women are the most affected by the economic recession that is ravaging the country under his government.
Speaking at the 32nd Annual National Conference of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association,
FOMWAN, in Lagos, the President assured of his government’s commitment towards turning the tide around for women.
Represented by the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, the President called for collaborative efforts towards rescuing the country from its economic challenges.

According to Buhari, “We wish to admit that the period of economic hardship that has coincided with our assumption of office till date, is a most demanding one.
“It, therefore, implies that the impact would be more on women, as managers of resources for families.
“I urge you not to despair, but pray and trust in almighty Allah, the only one that can guarantee the safe berthing of ships, irrespective of any turbulence.’’
He reiterated his government’s commitment towards the welfare of women as demonstrated in the rescue, rehabilitation and re-integration of the 21 released Chibok girls.
Buhari’s claim of being committed to women is coming few months after he declared that his wife, Aisha Buhari, “belongs to my kitchen and other rooms” in his house.
